After Rashmika Mandanna, now a deepfake video of actor Katrina Kaif has set the internet on fire. The video in question has been lifted from a towel-fight scene of Katrina’s upcoming film, Tiger 3. This video has further intensified the debate over the use of AI to malign the image of celebrities around the world.
In the video, Katrina could be seen engaged in a towel fight with a Hollywood stuntwoman. In the real scene, Katrina was with a towel wrapped around her. But the morphed version showed her attired in a white bikini top and bikini bottom.
Internet users were quick to highlight the deepfake video of Katrina Kaif, who’s married to Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal.
Not too long ago, a deepfake video of actor Rashmika Mandanna had surfaced evoking angry reactions from the Pushpa star. Taking to social media, Rashmika had written, “Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well-wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this.
“We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft.”
India’s IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar had reacted saying that the Narendra Modi government was committed to ensuring the digital safety of all citizens.
Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, is set to release in theatres on 12 November coinciding the Hindu festival of Diwali.
